The Future of Peanut Allergy Kid

So, you might be what ever happened to that crazy "Peanut Allergy Kid" blog! And, you might have noticed that I've not been here lately. There are several reasons for all of this but most of all, I just needed a serious break!!

I spent the summer evaluating what my future is in the food allergy community. Now that I have started my own freelance writing business (and it's doing awesome BTW!), I knew had to give something up.

So I had two options:

1) Step down as the head of the food allergy support group I lead in Metro Detroit.

-or-

2) Stop writing this blog.

To be honest, I debated long and hard about this. What it came down to was what I could do the easiest AND what would help the most people.

The blog won!!

This blog easily aligns with my overall writing goals. And the support group was left in capable hands (just an FYI to all of my local peeps!). The blog was not something not really something I could give away...

So....what does this mean for the blog?

Well, less and more...

What can you expect from this blog?

Regular posting. That is one thing. I plan to post 3 days a week. I might throw an occasional extra post for something special. But...I plan on posting informative posts on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Is that all?

Happily....no! I am also setting up an online store to sell ebooks I will be writing all about food allergies!

Some of you know I was working on an ebook about sending your peanut allergy kid on playdates. The great news is: it's almost done! The even better news is that I loved it so much, I will write more, particularly if my first one does well.

So, that's the "peanut free" scoop!! Peanut Allergy Kid is back! I've got tons of posts coming up! Tyler started kindergarten this year....lots of info coming on that! We also went to food allergy friendly Disney World...Pictures coming from that! I've got vlogs planned...there's just so much!!

Stay tuned!

Thank you so much Robyn! I have missed reading your posts, and I particularly look forward to reading your advice about PA kids and school (my son started kinder too).

I just found your blog and it's so nice to see someone writing about what we have been going through the past 2 years. We found out my son had a PA and egg allergy when he was about 15 months. Today we found out that he is no longer allergic to eggs!! Yay, happy dance. However, his PA has gotten worse. It's such a common allergy but it's hard to understand unless you or your child has the PA diagnosis. At family gathering I make an announcement reminding everyone of my son's allergy and if they are eating nuts or anything with nuts not to give it to him and not to touch him and I get these looks like ok, freak out much. I think my immediate family is FINALLY getting it 2 years later. My parents saw a mild reaction after peanut butter touched my son's skin, in the form of a rash immediatley popping up. Since then they have been so careful but it's hard to make poeple understand that they have to check EVERYTHING. I am terrified for when he starts school or that his allergy will continue to worsen. Thank you for having this and getting all of this information out there for other parents.
