This is actually a pretty bad video and not too informative. Forget passing this video to friends and families because of that third mother who suggests a separate pantry for her food allergic child. How about the entire family change for the sake of the child so they don't feel left out and secluded? Allergies are already bad enough, do you really want to feel left out by your family too?
I understand where you are coming from ThreePts. I struggle with this, too. But I also think it is important to teach allergy kids that they do need special foods and that it makes them special. In our home, I try to gradually teach Tyler that he needs to seek out all safe foods to prepare him for real life.
I think the video was of a mom with a child with several food allergies, which I know from personal experience, can be very difficult to manage and completely eliminate from the home. Every family has their own comfort level.
I'm just a girl that is humbled each day by God's grace. I am a Pastor's wife and a Mommy to two awesome little boys. My oldest child, Tyler, has a life threatening peanut allergy that has led me to become an advocate for children like him.
I am not a doctor or even a nurse. If you suspect any sort of peanut allergy, visit your allergist first. This blog is not in any way meant to replace the advice of a doctor. PA cannot be managed without medical supervision.
