Review of Choco Boom Bars

A couple of months ago our family got to try the new Enjoy Life Choco Boom bars. (How's that for a name?) Most importantly, they are free of all 8 allergens. Plus, they are made in a dedicated facility with no nuts!

Like many other allergen free foods, I questioned how good these things would be. They were awesome! I will admit I only took one bite because I wanted Tyler to be able to eat all of the bar. But, these were great! My tree nut allergic niece and nephew were with us and tried the one with rice in it (similar to a Nestle Crunch) and they absolutely loved it, too. (Note to self: Good Christmas gift for the niece and nephew!)

I bought a couple to have on hand in case we are ever in a situation where Tyler is unable to eat candy bars that others are eating. I'll warn you, though, they were not cheap. I believe they ran around $1.59 a piece at Whole Foods. But I thought a couple would be worth it.

Want a coupon to these great things? Visit this link and you can get a coupon and find out who carries them in your area. Really, they are totally worth it!

I haven't tried these yet, but your review is encouraging.

Are they cheaper if you buy them by the box? Our Kroger carries some varieties, as does our Meijer. And I know I've seem them available on Peanut Free Planet online - because I do think $1.59 a piece is a little too steep to be practical!

I agree, $1.59 is steep. When I bought the two we have, I used the coupon. I would NEVER pay that for candy in the house for anyone else. These are strictly for a special occasion. I bought these a month or so ago. I figured with Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and his birthday in the next few months, there was bound to be a time when he needed a "safe" alternative.

I'm super frugal but I have made an exception once in a while for Tyler. He's worth it and we really do not want him to feel deprived any more than he has to.

Eventually I think Amazon will carry them by the case. They seem to miss the bus on allergy products. They frequently are out of stock and it takes months for them to get more. If you find them by the case elsewhere, let me know!!

I am glad to hear these taste good. We'll have to give them a try.

Since we only have the peanut allergy (and not multiple allergies, thankfully!), I usually buy a bunch of Vermont Nut Free Chocolate mini bars. They sell for around $7.50 for 20 mini bars. A mini bar, in my opinion, is plenty for a 5 year or and an almost 7 year old. Actually, it ought to be plenty for me too! Anyhow, they are about $0.35 or $0.40 each before shipping.

I keep meaning to try Amanda's Own chocolates but haven't gotten around to it yet. And don't forget, there's Divvies Bing-Go and Benjamint. More and more choices lately!
