If there is one thing this family loves it is pizza. Since Tyler outgrew his milk allergy earlier this year, it has become his favorite food. In fact, we splurged for his first pizza: Pizza Hut!!
I was shocked to read the other day that Pizza Hut processes many of their products in a facility with peanuts!! I shuddered because Tyler has eaten this more than once. Seriously, I thought it would be safe. If you need proof, however, check out their allergen information page here.
This reminds me how vigilant we PA parents need to be. I am contacting other pizza places to see what their practices are. I will post when I hear back from them.

When our son was diagnose with PA, one of the foods we were warned about was pizza. So, he has not had pizza (except for Chef Boyardee in a box) in about a year and a half. It is difficult to find a pizza place or even a frozen pizza that says it has no peanuts and is made in a peanut-free facility. But, Ian's recently came out with pizza! YAY--they have great allergen-free food!
It seems as though Pizza Hut has updated their allergen information, and nothing seems to be manufactured on shared equipment w/peanut products anymore. Go to the pizza hut website and check it out. The one posted above is outdated, the new one is updated as of Nov 6. 2008.
Thank you for letting us know about the update! My parents are visiting and their favorite pizza is Pizza Hut. I was going to say no and I did a quick search and found this post again. I think this is also a fantastic reminder that manufacturing constantly changes-- and maybe even sometimes for the better!
If you go to the Yum! website you get a differnet answer. Yum! produces the sauces for Pizza Hut.
The posted date says 04/30/2008 and has peanuts listed as well as tree nuts. The new list still has tree nuts listed. I would like Yum! or Pizza Hut to tell me what they have changed in the process to make these items safe now.

Hi... I'm 16 and have recently... well about a year ago... developed a peanut allergy. I feel bad sometimes when i am with people, and they don't remember or forget that i have this allergy and they bring or purchase something to eat with peanuts or pecans. My grandparents, who i don't see often, like to give little surprises, and most of the things they bring are snack items that have been processed with peanuts... i feel terrible when i have to remind them that i cannot eat them.

I am trying to figure all of this out, as we have 2 pizza hut pizzas here and a 4 year old with a peanut allergy. So is it pizza for supper tonight?
Nope. Pizza Hut.com says their pizza is safe. Pizza Hut.ca (we're in Canada) says it is not. http://www.pizzahut.ca/nutrition.htm
On a side note, why do their Bruschetta and Venetian pizzas actually contain peanuts?
